Dr. Brian Murray is the interim dean of the College of Business and Associate Professor of Management. He received his doctorate in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and came to UD in October of 2002.
"What I love most about UD," says Murray, "is its small size and Catholic identity, the collegial faculty, and that the College of Business students and alumni are all working adults with a practical career focus."
Currently Dr. Murray is working with Dr. Blake Frank and Dr. Stanley Kroder on a teaching project that examines the College of Business course evaluations. He is also collaborating on another project studying compensation change communication which manipulates the different ways employees are told about changes in their compensation and how this affects employee outcomes.
As interim dean, his major initiatives are reinvigorating the college’s international presence, the new International Center, solidifying the school’s focus on practice based experiential education for adults, and trying to improve career opportunities for business students. He also hopes to raise the profile of the school through a more modern digital marketing presence. In the future, Dr. Murray hopes to engage College of Business alumni as adjunct instructors for the alumni in residence program.
